Eleven actors were in contention to play Leroy Jethro Gibbs on the hit crime drama series “NCIS.” Mark Harmon, who played Gibbs in the show, was one of the actors considered for the role. Two-time Academy Award winners Kevin Spacey and Denzel Washington were also among the actors in the running.
The role of Gibbs was ultimately cast to Matthew Perry, who has starred in several popular television shows.
